A new enemy: evil trademarks

As expected, now that sarge has been released the final showdown among the DFSG applies to everything people and the rest of the project is slowly beginning.

Between silly ad-hominem attacks and the usual misunderstandings of the role of debian-legal, people on debian-devel are discussing again if we should rename Firefox and other Mozilla Foundation programs for the sake of not accepting their generous (but not generous enough for some) trademark license. At least this time the discussion is not hidden on debian-legal, and more people are contributing.

If you do not want to read the whole thread then I think you should at least read aj's post, which fully sums up what I think should be our approach to trademarks.

BTW, why is the lists.debian.org archive not using Lurker like the unofficial archive I linked here instead of the ugly MHonArc? I don't think that anybody can actually follow a big thread with MHonArc, especially in the default configuration that we are using.
