udev 053 and hotplug-ng
The last one must have been the annoy the udev maintainer week, when people target me with bogus complaints and incorrectly pretend to know more than I do about my packages. Unsurprisingly, these people have not sent patches to support their assertions.
Yesterday I uploaded udev 053, which also contains some usability (as in "protect users from themselves") changes and adds more robustness to some critical operations. The init script keeps growing...
Finally today I started working again on hotplug and fixed a few bugs. After uploading it I will probably focus my hotplug-related development on hotplug-ng, for which I filed an ITP notice.
hotplug-ng is a C rewrite of hotplug, without slow shell scripts to parse files and do bitfields arithmetic and without support for old kernels. It still lacks many important features and needs a lot of work to be useable in Debian, so I do not foresee uploading packages before at least a month.
