On consensus (and DSL modems)

Manoj: how can you expect to reach consensus when some people made the DFSG a religion, which cannot accept compromises on matters of principle?

Anyway, if we were really all trying to make the best OS out there, as you wrote, some people would not be trying to screw our users by removing binary firmware files from the distribution. I joined debian because I wanted to build the best free OS, and now I'm discovering that a few vocal people are trying to change the idea of freedom shared and applied in our community.

Today I started writing some documentation about net-installing sarge with USB DSL modems. Proofreading, contributions and comments are encouraged.

I wish there was an easier way to know what each different d-i CD and initrd image provides without downloading and unpacking it...
