Ubuntu still bad at contributing back their changes
Not just to Debian (we are mostly used to it now), but also to upstream maintainers. Is it so hard?
Case study: whois. Discuss.
In related news, I just uploaded a whois release which supports the new IDN ccTLDs. I only had to add the respective servers to the list since I had already added IDN support in 2003.

Ecco la mia solita recensione delle presentazioni fatte al sedicesimo meeting di UKNOF e che ho trovato interessanti.
- Large Scale Photonic Integration: panoramica non troppo semplice sugli sviluppi futuri.
- Mapping IPv6 to/from IPv4: laborioso ma possibile. Lo scenario descritto mi pare di dubbia utilità visto che il NAT v4-v4 è più semplice (se rimane alla periferia della rete).
- Address Family Transition Router - AFTR: mi pare una tecnologia di transizione molto più promettente.
- I Wanted a New Network: è difficile trovare switch a basso costo con tutte le funzioni che servono a un Internet Exchange.
- 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet Overview: lo standard è quasi ufficiale. Panoramica su connettori e cavi. Visti i costi e i requisiti del layer 1 per ora sono difficili da giustificare rispetto alla link aggregation di porte 10G, e nemmeno i vendor mi sembrano ottimisti.
- DNSSEC for the Root Zone: tutto procede come da programma.
